UQP acquires world rights to Suri Matondkar's memoir-essay 'Cheatercock'
University of Queensland Press will publish Cheatercock: On the Ownership of English and Other Lies I've Been Sold in July 2027. Matondkar is the inaugural winner of the UQP Mentorship Prize for Under-represented Writers.

NSW Literary Awards 2027 entries close on 26 November
The State Library of NSW is taking entries in ten categories, from a total prize pool of $360,000 across 14 awards. Early-bird entries close at 5pm on 12 November and all entries at 5pm on 26 November (AEST).

Japan Foundation translation support for 2027–28 closes 1 December
Publishers outside Japan can apply for partial support towards translation fees and printing costs for books about Japan published between April 2027 and February 2028. Applications close at 1pm on 1 December 2026, Japan time.

James Norcliffe named NZSA President of Honour for 2027
The New Zealand Society of Authors has named poet, novelist and short story writer James Norcliffe as its 2027 President of Honour. He will deliver the Janet Frame Memorial Lecture in 2027.
