NT Writers' Centre seeks part-time program officer in Darwin
The 22.5-hour-a-week role, Tuesday to Friday, runs the centre's writers development program and workshops. Applications close at midday ACST on 12 November.
The NT Writers' Centre is recruiting a part-time program officer to work from its Darwin office. Applications close at midday ACST on Thursday 12 November 2026.
The role is 22.5 hours a week, Tuesday to Friday, with some flexibility in hours as long as core office times are covered. Occasional evening and weekend work is required, including to support the NT Writers Festival. The advertisement gives the pay as $34 an hour plus superannuation and says the position is available immediately.
The program officer will plan, promote and deliver the centre's programs, chiefly its annual writers development program. That includes running literary workshops from start to finish, from venues, presenters and travel to small budgets, ticketing, promotion and feedback. The job also covers building membership, keeping records, working with other organisations, contributing to newsletters and social media, and office administration.
Applicants need experience producing workshops, events or community programs, strong organisational and communication skills, and confidence with Google Suite, Canva, Mailerlite, Excel and Word. Experience in the literary sector or small not-for-profit arts organisations, relevant tertiary study and NT community networks are desirable.
Candidates apply through SEEK with a résumé and written answers to four questions covering community programming, event promotion, membership systems and sector experience. The full position description is available from the centre's executive director. The centre welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people and LGBTQI+ people.
